242-246. Visit London's aquariums
Yauatcha is situated in Soho, and it is a very strange blue perspex square building. It felt silly going to a restaurant to look at a aquarium but we went anyway.
The restaurant actually has a small aquarium on its outside but after looking at the menu (dim sum) we decided to investigate further, which was a bit of a problem.....we couldn't find the door to get in. We walked round the building, at one point nearly going in the back door in to the kitchen. After walking round the whole building saying 'isn't this ridiculous' lots, we were back to where we started and we found the door.
we walked in and it was really busy for a Sunday so knew it was going to be good. As we hadn't booked we were taken down to the basement room which is great - a long aquarium (see fish picture), and fantastically lit ceiling (see light picture).
We decided to order things that we had no idea about and I can't really remember what they were, but according to the receipt that I am looking at, one of our orders was '1 Bamboo Dump' (see food picture).
Everything was really good - I'm no dim sum expert but it was so nice. We also had a pot of Jasmine Tea (see Pickles/Teapot picture) and I have been asked by my dining partner to mention how much she loved the teapot.
A great restaurant - apparently it has a Michelin Star - Food was very reasonably priced and the one of the most expensive things we had was a bottle of sparkling water (4.50).
Hi there,
We heard about your site here at TO and were thrilled!
Would it be possible for you to keep a blog/diary for us this wee, that we could publish in next week's magazine?
Do you have a contact number you could send to my e-mail address please?
Thanks,
Rebecca
