My dear friend Lucy Pickles, who is featured quite a lot on this blog (see photos of Bank of England Museum) did the London Triathlon and I went along to support her, but only saw her on the running bit at the end, and she looked like she was about to die, but she did it. Amazing. I headed down to the Excel Centre to watch Lucy running 10K, before which she had cycled 40K and swam 1500m in the Thames. She said that was pretty horrific - people jumping in and swimming on top of you and you swallow half of the river. At the end of the swim she had to quickly get her wet suit off to do the cycling. Unfortunately, Lucy couldn't get her wet suit off, so spent valuable minutes trying to get out of it. She did, eventually, and then went on to cycle, which she is very highly skilled at.

It was fun watching the runners - some were in ridiculous outfits - I don't understand how they do it wearing proper sports clothes, never mind dressed up as a penguin. I shouted encouraging things like 'come on!' and 'you've nearly done it!'. I'm sure it helped them enormously.

At the end they run into the Excel Centre to finish.

WELL DONE PICKLES!!!
